Pirot Tax-Free Zone
The Pirot Tax-Free Zone is located in Serbian territory, and is a specially designed and delineated area where business can be conducted without the need to pay customs duty or VAT.
The Pirot Tax-Free Zone is a joint-stock company whose majority stockholder is Tigar a.d. Among the other stockholders is the Municipality of Pirot.
The Pirot Tax-Free Zone began operations in April 1998, based on a resolution by the Federal Government dated 8 August 1996. It is located near Serbia's eastern gate, 30 kilometers from the border crossing of Gradina, along traffic corridor 10, approximately 70 kilometers from Niš and Sofia.
The Tax-Free Zone is within the Industrial Zone of Pirot, and spans an area of 65 hectares of infrastructure-enabled land, with its own railroad track and 150 telephone lines.
