Rubber profiles and hoses

Rubber profiles

Using modern production equipment, Tigar Technical Rubber manufactures rubber profiles in various cross-sections and from materials of different grades to meet the requirements of the construction, mechanical engineering, chemical, and textile industries. The profiles are manufactured from EPDM rubber.

Profile dimensions range from Ø 7 mm up to a cross-section of 50 × 50 mm, with weights ranging from 30 g/m to 2.8 kg/m.

Profile lengths and packaging are defined and agreed upon according to customer requirements. Dimensional tolerances comply with DIN 7715 and ISO 3302-1 standards. Rubber quality complies with DIN 7863 standards.

Rubber hoses

  • Application – used in the automotive industry, where water hoses are designed for the flow of water or engine coolant (antifreeze).
  • Water and air hoses for automotive applications have an inner diameter ranging from Ø 10 mm to Ø 55 mm, with a wall thickness of 4 mm to 5.5 mm, depending on the inner diameter.
  • Textile-reinforced hoses feature a textile insert, i.e. cord reinforcement.
  • Hoses can be straight or shaped.

TEXTILE-REINFORCED HOSES

The inner layer of the hose is made of synthetic rubber (EPDM), resistant to water, coolants, and elevated temperatures. The middle layer consists of textile reinforcement made of rayon or nylon cord, providing high resistance to increased fluid pressure. The outer layer is made of synthetic rubber resistant to weathering.

  • Working pressure: 3.5 bar
  • Temperature range: -50°C to +120°C
  • Shape: straight or shaped
  • Length: maximum length of a straight hose is 2 m

NON-REINFORCED HOSES

These hoses are manufactured from synthetic rubber (EPDM). They are resistant to water, coolants, and weathering.

  • Temperature range: -50°C to +120°C
  • Shape: straight or shaped
  • Length: maximum length of a straight hose is 6 m
  • Diameter: Ø 4–Ø 20 mm
  • Wall thickness: 1.5–8.0 mm
  • Working pressure: 1.5 bar

HOSES FOR AIR FLOW WITH DISPERSED MINERAL OIL

This type of hose is manufactured from synthetic rubber (NBR), resistant to oils, greases, weathering, and elevated temperatures.

FLEXIBLE HOSES – TIGAR FLEX

These hoses are used in industry and households for vacuum cleaning, airflow in air-conditioning systems, ventilation, hot air or water flow, and short-term flow of engine coolant in the automotive industry.

They are manufactured from a vulcanized elastomer-based rubber compound with textile reinforcement. A steel spring provides these hoses with their specific mechanical and elastic properties, allowing them to bend in all directions while maintaining the same cross-section.

TIGAR FLEX CONSTRUCTION

  • TIGAR FLEX flexible hoses are manufactured from a vulcanized elastomer-based rubber compound with textile reinforcement. The base elastomer is styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR).
  • The hose construction consists of one layer of impregnated fabric vulcanized between two layers of rubber, with a high-strength steel spring – inner layer, textile reinforcement, steel spring, outer layer.
  • The steel spring provides the hoses with specific mechanical and elastic properties, allowing them to bend in all directions while maintaining the same cross-section.
  • The material used to manufacture the hose provides resistance to ozone and heat aging and is resistant to occasional short-term contact with oil.

Working pressure: 3.4 bar

Operating temperature range: -35°C to +100°C

Hardness: 60 Shore A

In the spring-reinforced section, the hoses retain their shape under pressure, while the connection end may expand slightly at a pressure of 7 bar. The manufacturer therefore recommends installing the hose by pushing it fully onto the appropriate connection fitting, along the entire length of the connection end.

The hoses withstand a vacuum of -0.8 bar.

The service life of TIGAR FLEX hoses depends on:

  • engine type (petrol or diesel)
  • vehicle type (passenger or commercial vehicle)
  • operating temperature
  • other operating conditions – acceleration, whether hot air or water flows through the hose, the presence of oil in the airflow, external conditions, weathering, etc.

For passenger vehicles, the expected service life is 3 years under optimal operating conditions. For commercial vehicles, the expected service life is 3–6 months. When TIGAR FLEX hoses are used in household and construction applications, such as washbasin connections and similar applications, their service life is considerably longer and can be virtually unlimited.

The manufacturing technology used for TIGAR FLEX flexible hoses is protected.

  • A total of 93 TIGAR FLEX hose configurations have been developed, with diameters ranging from Ø 25 mm to Ø 60 mm and lengths ranging from L = 300 mm to L = 750 mm.
